The thing with this show is you don't have to be a mecha or action/adventure junkie to enjoy it. This show is the epitome of wanderlust and ambition, told from the perspective of a father daughter pair. Sakugan IS the show of the season with no doubt in my mind, so the fact that this show isn't the buzz of the entire community at the moment means it is horridly underrated and underwatched. I hope you got some good intel from this, enjoy (or don't) Sakugan. I'm making the review for those of us watching during the releases.

I suggest looking at another review, to get a better understanding of what the whole anime is about. Please remember that I made this review only after watching the first 4 episodes, so later in the story might be top-tier stuff. It has so much to give, and so much to take. Overall Sakugan is the anime version of the overly average character cliche. I think this simple formula will work 99% of the time. If the synopsis sounds bad, you'll dislike it. If the synopsis sounds good, you'll like it. The anime has untapped potential in my opinion, but what they're doing now will definitely get some people excited so I don't mind. Sakugan was certainly an anime that I watched 4 episodes of, that's about all I can say for Sakugan. Sakugan does have the obligatory and blatantly obvious LGBTQ+ character, I don't have anything against it, I'm just informing people. Don't take this as a negative point, it really comes down to personal preference, this is just my opinion. This is especially true for the main characters. They don't feel real, it's as if they've been tweaked a little to create a little chaos between each other. Each character has an "anime feeling", as I like to call it. The characters seem to be the only lacking part of Sakugan. I did notice the music more than the sounds of the environment, which made the world feel small, which is befitting of society underground, but not fitting for the adventure genre. The sounds you hear are a little lackluster, I think the voice actors could've done a better job. There is a good amount of animation, everything flows well, nothing draws your attention too much. The lighting is noteworthy, since the whole story has been underground so far, it's to be expected that the lighting will be different. The colors used are blended very well, the characters naturally fit into thte world. The adventure has so far been nothing special, while they do go to uncharted territories and grow as a person, I can't help but feel bored. If I had to say how good they did the genres: The sci-fi is pretty good, you can tell by the world-building that their universe is outta this world. Yes, there is a little bit of action even though the main genres are Adventure and Sci-fi. Honestly, the plot isn't to die for, I'm personally more interested in the action. The story has been inconsistently paced during the first 4 episodes. The world's setting is similar to Gurren Laganns', and the "several colonies" mentioned in the synopsis have so far looked like cultural differences.

Note that I primarily score from 1-5 instead of 1-10. I have only seen the first 4 episodes, so this please cosider I'm working with little material. I won't tell you about the story, so please read the synopsis before continueing. Sakugan is an unremarkable anime, it has bland characters with an untapped story. This review contains minor spoilers, and just about everything I say is my opinion. Despite her father Gagumber's vehement disagreement, a certain incident with the kaijuu jumpstarts a dangerous yet exciting adventure that will surely alter humanity's course forever. These aspirations fuel her desire to become a Marker and explore the Labyrinth's vast unknown in search of such a fantastical place. Recently, however, she has been dreaming of a place with a neverending ceiling not bound by bedrock. Memenpu is a nine-year-old college graduate whose inventions have greatly benefitted the Workers in her local colony. Moreover, kaijuu that are large enough can force their way into the colonies, further increasing their threat level. However, humanity also faces a threat to its existence-creatures called "kaijuu" whose sizes range from that of a small child to an enormous building, and are hostile to any human they see.

These include "Workers," who mine precious ore to fuel the colonies, and "Markers," who journey into the Labyrinth's surprisingly lush environment to bring back information that eases navigation. Making sure humanity survives the harsh conditions of the underground, a colony's citizens can take on a variety of specialized jobs. The "Labyrinth" is an expansive space deep underground where humans live in clusters known as "colonies." Over the years, the surface has become a distant memory-even perhaps only a fantasy to those who have never experienced its wonders.
